VHDG/SRV is a project initiated by art initiative VHDG in 2013, when I was still curator at VHDG. As I found it a pity that VHDG didn’t have the opportunity to create a residency as it didn’t own a building, I came up with the idea for a mobile residency. Therefore VHDG converted an old mobile grocery store into a mobile studio. Starting in 2014, each year a young artist got the opportunity to create new work, based on a trip of a month that he or she made with this mobile studio through the province of Friesland. Artist Teun Vonk, whom was selected by me, was the first artist to make use of this mobile studio. Vonk departed on the 30th of August 2014, for a journey of a month. The results were being presented at De Blokhuispoort (Leeuwarden, The Netherlands) from 27th September – 11th October 2014.

VHDG/SRV was supported by Gemeente Leeuwarden, Provincie fryslan, Leeuwarder Ondernemers Fonds, Stichting Doen, Leeuwarden 2018 and Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.

Omroep Fryslan did a tv report on the project.

And Leeuwarder Courant wrote two articles about the project.
